I know that. I have no problem with them getting some of the money, they deserve it. They don't deserve copyright of everything to do with the game.
Well, you can't just get the rights for something. So if they do have them (and I don't know they do), that means Bungie gave them away for some reason, and probably knew what they were doing. Are you going to deny them the right to transfer ownership?

EDIT:
because it has been designed to implement every bug, glitch and historical feature from Microsoft's Office software, the specification to implement OOXML is over 6000 pages long
Holy fuck. And they say C++ is complicated.

You have a good point, but I still don't see that it makes sense that you can just say "We came up with this idea, but now you can take credit for it."

Edit: and no, they aren't literally taking credit for it; but in a sense they are. And I do know of people who think that the publishing company is the company that made the game. Like one guy continually refers to "Activision" and not "Infinity Ward" when referring to the makers of call of duty...

I don't know they do

Well, they own the image of Master Chief (that is, what he looks like, etc.) at the very least, I know that much.

Copyright ownership, AFAIK, allows the owner to make money off the property. It's not the same as authorship.

Yeah, but the issue I have with it is that of control over the characters. Like I said, if they wanted to, they could stop Bungie from making Halo games any more, and is probably why Bungie didn't (or couldn't) protest "halo wars" (which is a pathetic idea. How can you turn an FPS into a strategy game? (and do it well)).

@Bazzy,
I didn't see that post. And yeah, I agree: their sniping at each other is always fun. I think the FSF goes to more ridiculous lengths; but those "Halloween documents" are still completely ill-informed and retarded. The bits I could be bothered about reading, anyway.

Edit:
Schools, starting from nursery school, should tell their pupils, “If you bring software to school, you must share it with the other students. And you must show the source code to the class, in case someone wants to learn.”

Stallman does make me laugh... As if four year old kids are going to go "Hey babe, wanna share the source code to this " - raises eyebrows - " fdisk implementation?"
- love-film music -
Kids are more interested in watching cartoons and playing with toy cars than writing software (nostalgia!).

Haven't you heard of Command & Conquer: Renegade?

It's why I don't have "free source code" on the side of my van.
No. Should I have done?

It's why I don't have "free source code" on the side of my van.

What do you have? "Free cynicism: guaranteed to make you feel inferior!"?

Only joking <3

That reminds me of one of those arguments you hear on games on the internet; one I heard was
"Gimme your address you prick! I'll kill you!"
"You want some candy? I have some candy in my van"
"Shut the fuck up! What's your address? Gimme your address!"
"Stop talking. You're gay, stop talking."

At least the second guy managed to keep calm... Some people are so retarded. It seems to be mostly British people and Americans that annoy me on the internet. People from Mid- and Eastern-Europe seem to be really nice. Like this German guy on a game I was playing yesterday; "That was very nice playing, thank you!"

And English people tend to have retarded names like "XYZ FusionZ" whereas Americans seem to prefer "YMI So Gud" (I played Halo with him the other day; apparently grenade spamming and hogging the sword and rocket launcher, but still managing to come second last makes you good. AR & Magnum all the way!).

You forgot about XxIsuckxX XxXXXXXXRKEWLXXXXXXXxX, etc...

"Gimme your address you prick! I'll kill you!"

I would have laughed in his face. Especially if he sucked...reminds me of some British nub who complained when me/my bro wouldn't help him glitch a level in Left 4 Dead. He got killed and then sent a message saying something to the effect of "You fuckers should learn how to play the fucking game!!!!" as a voice message, so I sent a response saying "Sorry, I could really understand what you said, have a nice day." and blocked him.
Hahaha, I love those arguments. Some people take games waaaay too seriously... Or they just want to cheat through it and say they completed it.
