BitLocker

Hey, so as we all know, the Windows 10 "free"upgrade is around the corner, and I did some digging around, it says that only Windows 10 Pro will have BitLocker ToGo. Now, I have a partitioned encrypted hard disk and was wondering that if it is encrypted and I receive a non-pro upgrade, will I no longer be able to access it through this computer?

Even though I have Windows 8.1 Pro, for some reason, I am eligible for only Windows 10 (non-Pro), and this has me worried on whether I should decrypt the disk?

Better safe than sorry, really.

According to the faq http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-faq 8.1 pro upgrades to 10 pro.

@naraku I know, but when I click the check my computer status , it shows eligible for Windows 10. Period.

@Ispil It took almost a whole day for the drive to get encrypted, that too when it was partially empty, I can't go through all that trouble again. :l

Well, the alternative is that you lose all data on the drive should you be wrong. Though I'm more curious why you went through all that trouble in the first place.

Decrypt it and get VeraCrypt instead. Microsoft works with the NSA.

...I suspect that if that's something to worry about, you're just being paranoid.

Also, https://www.grc.com/misc/truecrypt/truecrypt.htm shows why using VeraCrypt is actually not even a better option, since it violates the TrueCrypt license. If anything, just use TrueCrypt... or stop being paranoid about the NSA snooping on your stuff.

That link points to a freedesktop.org mailing list post that merely explains how the TrueCrypt license is not free.
NOTHING IN THIS LICENSE SHALL IMPLY OR BE CONSTRUED AS A PROMISE,
OBLIGATION, OR COVENANT NOT TO SUE FOR COPYRIGHT OR TRADEMARK
INFRINGEMENT.
The argument given by the poster is that a license is precisely a promise not to sue, and that therefore software that is licensed in such a way that not suing is not promised can't even be used -- let alone distributed or modified -- without being certain that one will not be sued as a consequence.
The poster is proposing rewordings for this and other problematic sections.

UPDATE - Installed Windows 10 like on 29th itself, seems okay, I thought I'd never say this, but I kind of miss some aspects of metro. But oh well, on the plus side, I got Windows 10 Pro, so no possibility of No Bitlocker ToGo :D Anyways, thanks guys :D
