Going Through Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++

Hello,

I am new to programming and have chosen C++ as my first language. I have done a lot of research and decided I will self study Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ (2nd Edition). I was hoping to find other Newbies that wanted to do it with me, as I'm sure it would benefit us all more to do it as a group. While I don't have a background in Programming, I have a degree in marketing and another in audio engineering. I've served in the United States Navy and was in charge of a computer controlled pneumatic weapons system. I've also been working in healthcare (insurance and authorizations) for the past 4 years. I've decided that now that I'm 26 and have two kids (5 year old and a 6 month old). I should really start chasing something I can be proud of before It's time to give that same advice to my kids. I want to be an example to them.

Anyway, I'm hoping to start soon and if this post generates some interest, I hope to have some company. What do ya say?

Here's a link to the book:

We have a community IRC channel, irc.freenode.net #cplusplus.com

There is a wide range of skill levels there. We're always glad to get to know more people!

Thank you for the link! :)

I had joined earlier (it came up through Google) as a guest but I was sort of confused and then accidentally closed the tab by using the wrong keyboard shortcut lol.
