Several forums (eg msdn forums) have this. Users could vote on helpfull posts and answers which would be displayed as the second post (right after the OP post)
It shouldnt be too hard to implement
...and its a great way to stay in shape (fg quote comes free every ~100 posts :] )
I've never seen the point, other than to polish egos.
Does it matter what 'rank' someone is? Is there advice/solution any more or less valid because of an arbitrary ranking? It would just be more noise on what is a nice clean site.
be that as it may, the OP should have the ability to mark an reply as an answer.
Marking a particulate reply as the answer may have merit but I have seem posts where the OP has said that they used 'solution X' instead of the more accurate 'solution Y'. So it may not be such a good idea to have the person asking the question decide on the correctanswer. (plus most of the time they don't mark the thread as solved anyway)

Exactly. Everything on there is to try and get "points". If you answer a question, regardless of whether you post spam or not, you get points. It's an awful system, so flawed. True enough Twicker could probably implement something good; but regardless it would still make the forum worse.
