Midnight CD drive

I have a strange observation here. On my Windows 7 64-bit Toshiba Satellite, every day at midnight exactly, my empty CD drive checks for a disc as if I had opened and closed it.

It's harmless, but strange. I have no idea if it's hardware or software, but I think it takes DST into account. I don't want to mess with changing the system time though.

Thoughts?
It is probably something planned. Like AV scan or system defragmentation (this actually usually planned at 3:00)

you could have a rogue process running around
It's the NSA looking for hacking discs.

Your computer could be part of a botnet
Check Task Scheduler for any tasks launching at 24:00
Use task manager to see what process is using the system. You can use perfmon to record the system around that time.
