Sublime Text 2 font looks ugly (xubuntu)

Apr 7, 2014 at 2:40pm
Hi, i've recently upgraded libfontconfig because codeblocks 13.12 requires it, but after the installation, sublime text font became somewhat ugly
( or is it just me ? )

I was wondering if someone could help me or has experienced this problem before

Looks fine to me, though it could use another bit of antialiasing it seems.

If you don't like, change the font. There's a setting in there somewhere.

Perhaps you should use a different font.
I suggest "DejaVu Sans Mono" (usually it is the same as "Monospace").

I'm a fan of Monospace. Good stuff.

Yeah, I use Monospace for almost everything (all my editors, IRC clients (granted I don't get on much anymore..no where to visit), and a couple of browser though some don't let you change fonts).

Not to derail the thread, but a pet peeve of mine is how Monospace is sometimes treated as a "real" font.

In all Linux distros I ever used, Monospace was nothing more than Bitstream Vera Sans Mono renamed. If there was anything like a meta-font, Monospace would be it.

I've tried Dejavu Sans Mono but the default font is actually better.

The fonts are also thinner than normal, i think the problem is somewhat the font hinting or antialiasing ?

The font seems fine to me. My favourite font is "Comic Sans Ms". Its a really great one and code in it looks good too.

Just look at the elegance: http://imgur.com/eLxAqdL

Uhm, I managed to get a work around by increasing the font size;
At least it looks better compared to previous one..
