Help! Help! is just getting annoying

thats a good idea in theory, but we are very different in the lounge. the other sections are for helping. this is for being laid back. you should never judge a forum for the places where people arent going to be helped. and the closed account looked like he was being ignorant. if you are ignorant and continue to argue with us, then we will argue back
cire, sir, with all due respect, it isn't a poor strategy at all

With all due respect, yes it is.

Which regular contributor in the beginner's area are you finding attacking beginners in the lounge, by the way? I certainly wouldn't consider the beginner who started this thread to be a regular contributor, unless asking questions and otherwise being a lounge bunny is what you consider contributing.

DTSCode, sir, I'll keep that in mind. Lounge bunny? Ignorant? So he was just trolling then? I hate trolls and if that is the case I'll forget everything they said in that thread.

My apologies, I had to fix some typos I noticed after typing.

cire will probably know better than me, but from what i saw thats what it looked like. while maybe not the best practice, we can get pretty mad at people who argue with ignorance. i would know... i used to be one, but got better when they started getting pissed off. also what is a forum bunny? i havent seen that one before

A lounge bunny is a poster who runs aimlessly around the lounge dropping little pellets of "wisdom" in various threads.

It's the term I use in my head when I think of posters with a majority of posts in the lounge, but who can't seem to contribute anything meaningful outside of it (or even in it) and/or don't seem to be actively improving their programming skills or knowledge as illustrated in the rare departure from the lounge.

I don't know... It seemed like BHX kinda wanted to start something... his last few posts were kinda rude. (Outside his last topic).

Still kinda surprising he quit, he wasn't that type of person to do so.

I'm not that type of person to talk bad about someone when they can't defend themselves, but his actions were questionable.

---

This year he said that he wanted to improve and help beginners but I don't think at least 100 posts of his were in any section other than the lounge...

Lumpkin, sir, I will have to take your word for that. I did email him after doing some searches and finding his email, but his reply was on the rude side again and feel it isn't worth posting. I was just wanting clarification to why he left and feel I got it so I will let this discussion die. Sorry if I caused any issues, but I will post questions here when they come up while I learn.

oh are we talking about bhxspectre? did we verify he left for good then? damn i liked him. but he could be very stubborn and sometimes had a short temper

Omega can you accept pms? I'd like to ask you something in private.

DTSCode, sir, I would have to assume from his email that he is done, but I can't speak for him.

Lumpkin, sir, I came here hoping to learn C++ and PMs don't figure into my learning to program. You are more than welcome to email me at phoenixomega@live.com though.

But members might need a way to contact you with slightly off-topic details on the questions you ask. I understand though, I should allocate some time later for writing that email, right now I'm working on some stuff.

EDIT: The sir thing is way to formal, I'm not used to it :P. Just call me Fred or Lumpkin, whichever is fine.

My apologies, sir, but I was raised being taught you always refer to someone as sir or ma'am and not doing so is disrespectful. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't say sir or ma'am when replying.

Oh okay. How old are you? You realize I'm a child right? :P

I'll try to call you sir then.
Once you enter society, in this case an internet forum, you lose the protection that age offers - you are expected to act appropriately regardless of other conditions, age included.

I was just saying that I was a child and it was unnecessary for him to refer to me in a formal way.

So you hate trolls. Fascinating.
