Help! Help! is just getting annoying

Okay I kind of don't like people using the title help for there problem. For example I just clicked on a topic saying help! As the title and when I read more I find out the error is in the do while. And I Donno do while. So I just wanted to put this out there. Don't use help! As a title. Explain your problem in the title. As if the title was do while problem I would not need to click on that

As you can see in the beginners forums that there is help! Do while which is self explanatory

Do while is the exact same thing as a while loop but it makes sure the loop runs at least once. ex:

1
2
3
4
5
do
{

}while(x);

Cool
But that wasn't the question/argument here
It was that we need to do something about people making these titles.
It's funny that you bring do whiles because I had a conversation about that today. Mostly it was people bitching that c/c++ wasn't much like English and do whiles are a perfect example of how they are.

1
2
3
4
do
{
//the following
}while(//this);

I find that logical and legible.

And yeah, having "help" or "code doesn't work" or "weird problem" (I may have been guilty of the latter) isn't exactly descriptive or helpful. Not sure if there's anything that can be done though.

EDIT: fixed typo

Well you said you don't know how to use a do while loop...

We really can't change their topics for them, all we can do is suggest that they change it.

It is a little annoying not that we can stop it. But
Use meaningful, specific subject headers
The subject header is your golden opportunity to attract qualified experts' attention. Don't waste it on babble like 'Please help me' Don't try to impress us with the depth of your anguish; use the space for a super-concise problem description instead.
from the read before posting article makes it clear not to name it stuff like that I think. (I could of course be misinterpreting it entirely)

Sorry my fault the do while is just an example. I'm just not cool with people using help as title

WB prince,
Yea but people don't read that really. The bad thing is there are no promotions on the site. If there were a few more moderators and admins the website could be going well.
What they should do is put that beside or somewhere when your posting.
But there are really less admins and mods and non hear us.

Just thought I'd make sure everyone realizes that this is shown when making a new post.

You actually think people read that? Lol.
It's right next to the box where you type the post message. Personally I think it shouldn't even let you make the post if 'help' is anywhere in the topic title.
I believe that used to be an enforced rule, but it didn't seem worth it as people would just write "h*lp" or other such crap in the title. If people were going to have a useless and unhelpful (pun semi-intended) title, they are going to have one whether they are allowed to waste space with the word "help" or not.

i stopped helping people with just help (although when i have problems with my code i guess my titles arent much better) unless they actually give more information. for example i wont do help! problems! but i will do help! program wont compile because that means they have errors as the problem
Speaking of vague to the point of uselessness on the topic of subjects:

"What's wrong?":
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/beginner/105298/

"What does it mean?":
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/beginner/106020/

"What is the difference?":
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/beginner/108824/

"Not working.":
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/unices/105738/

"Need ideas":
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/beginner/105319/

"Help" would've been about as descriptive for most of these, and I've seen topics with "help" in them that were more aptly titled than these.

Ouch, I wouldn't want someone to do that to me...

Waw u got me. But I don't do that anymore. Thoseosts are all jun,july and August. Well I was a newbie that time and so are these members. So now I understand :/

I didn't want this to be my first post, but as a beginner I feel I have to. I found out about this site last month before Thanksgiving, but have lurked to get a feel for the community. This is the second thread I've seen where you seem to attack beginners for their ways of posting. We are beginners and may not be as well versed as the rest of the veteran programmers here, but I don't see where these threads are beneficial at all. You may not mean for it to look like an attack on us, but from my stand point they feel like attacks.

The other thread I'm referring to ended with a member rage quitting. Instead of giving anyone a moments pause to think about how it looks to us beginners, you proceeded to make fun of the user for rage quitting and their choice of words. I was looking to get into C++ programming and have been reading the tutorials here and learncpp.com's site, but I'm having serious reservations now about asking any questions here because of the two threads. The member that quit was partially right, these kind of threads are "counter productive" to a beginner.

I'm hesitant to ask any questions here now, but I am starting to wonder if I too shouldn't find a different site to ask my questions on.

they are attacks. just because you are a beginner doesnt mean you cant put a more descriptive title. it doesnt matter your time here. ive made bad titles. im sure we all have. but you can still do something a bit better than help! help! could you post a link to this other thread?

The member that quit was a lounge bunny who contributed practically nothing to helping beginners. Beginners who are judging the quality of help in the programming forums by the posts in the lounge should probably rethink that strategy.

DTSCode, sir, here you go. This is the thread I was noting in my reply.

http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/120008/

cire, sir, with all due respect, it isn't a poor strategy at all. If a user on the forum is openly attacking beginners in lounge, it calls into question the sincerity of the help they are giving in the beginner thread.
