I'm perfectly fine without a girlfriend, I don't know why everyone says it's so amazing... |
I know you said you were joking, but let's pretend you weren't for the sake of conversation, and also because I can imagine there are people who genuinely hold this opinion.
But it
is amazing! It's magic! My girlfriend and I have been together for a year and a half now, and every time we meet is as exciting as the first time. We both know it'll probably not last forever, as chances are high that I'll move to USA next year, but we both enjoy it as much as we can despite (or perhaps because of) that. When you are in a relationship, even the most boring things, e.g. dishwashing, can become surprisingly interesting. I believe the factor that makes the experience so intoxicating is that you are given an opportunity to practice taking care of another entity. You can most certainly enjoy watching a movie by yourself, but it's more fun to do it with another person lying in your arms (especially when you've already seen the movie alone first and can therefore focus on other things). I've also tried (several times) to teach her programming, but she doesn't seem to like it much. My most recent attempt was a C#/XNA game programming class on Coursera that we took together. Of course, I did most of the work, but she ended up learning stuff like variables, conditionals, loops and functions, too. Lately, we don't see each other very frequently, as she lives in a city and I live in a nearby town, but when we do (usually once or twice a week) we spend the whole day together. I often call her my little biscuit and she often calls me her little lion :)
Assuming I can even talk to women. |
Again, I know you said you were joking...
It's not that hard, really. There are exceptions, of course, but if you're good looking enough (and this is something you can work on) to pass the first visual check, most of the times it's enough to just make her feel good about herself and do it in a funny way. Here's an example from my life as an undergraduate student: There were these three girls you would always see together. As usual, one of them was pretty and the rest, well, not so much. As expected, I wanted to taste the pretty one, so one day I approached her and said "Will you go out for coffee with me if I can guess your name in three tries?", to which she replied "Yeah, whatever, go ahead...". Of course, I didn't. I wanted to hook her from the very beginning and I could tell that this wasn't going to work. Instead, I learned her name, and a couple of days later I sat behind her in a class, grabbed a page from my notebook and began writing "I've been watching you lately and I noticed a couple of interesting things about you. You look like an
Amazing girl, so I'm pretty sure there's at least one
A in your name. [etc...] So, based on my observations, I'd say there's a good chance your name is [her name].". I passed it to her, and after a couple of seconds I could hear her chuckling and breathing more heavily than before. After she finished reading it, she turned around (and I could see her face was all red) and said nervously "Are you a wizard or something?". Now, that was an epic win. Regardless - I don't remember why - I decided that going out with her wasn't a good idea after all.
You'll want company of the opposite sex one day, lol. |
For me it's the other way around. I know a time will come when I'll become one with the Source and then I'll be alone again, because the concept of individuality will cease to exist. But while I'm still under the illusion that I'm separate from them, cute ladies will always be welcome to share beautiful moments with me :)
