External Hard Drive Question
I know it's not related to C++, but maybe someone here knows....
Today, as I was using my external hard drive (WD 500GB My Passport) to transfer some music and photos from my laptop to my desktop, It began to not be recognized by either computer. After some troubleshooting and searching around the internet, I have not found a solution.
Windows Explorer (Windows 7) does not recognize the drive in My Computer, but under the device manager, it is recognized. I can also find it in Computer management, but it only recognizes the disk as "unknown" and says that I need to initialize the disk in order to access it. When I try this, it give an error: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"
I have tried several softwares to try to troubleshoot, but no luck. They all see that the drive is there, but none can gather any information from it. I don't know what to do! Any help would be appreciated!
