The Integration Center of Excellence (ICOE) team is looking for a Senior Development Manager seeking these challenges. This individual will manage a talented development organization that will design and deliver integrated applications with high visibility and impact to Microsoft. This is a key position on the ICOE management team for setting direction, processes, strategy (technology roadmap and organization improvement).
Bring your passion to learn, creative ideas, partnering competencies, and communication skills to the ICOE team. Deliver great services and products to the ICOE Business while working with your peers, Business partners, and IT community. Leverage your experience and knowledge of .NET Framework, C#, Windows Forms, Web Services, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, BizTalk, XML, MSMQ, AS/2, WF, WCF and SQL. Maximize your talents in object oriented design, design patterns, enterprise application (including thirty-party) integration techniques, as well as database design.
Job Responsibilities and Deliverables
Line Manager• Manage a development team that supports creativity and diversity of thought.
• Mentor, grow, and mature a development team that has the application breadth & depth across ICOE.
• Enable the development team to deliver high-quality and reliable applications efficiently (via tools, processes, best practices, etc).
• Exceptional people management and leadership skills demonstrated over 7+ years of formal experience, with an excellent track record of hiring and growing outstanding senior-level talent.
• Track record of building strong development teams with positive and productive cross-group relationships.
• Strong strategic thinking and development planning experience focused on shipping highly robust systems software on time and on budget.
• Demonstrated passion for customer, developer, and business partner satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of inspiring passion in their team.
• Ability to drive technical decisions, solve tough problems, and organize multiple projects executing concurrently.
• Strong background in implementing software development life cycle (SDLC) processes that keep our development efforts predictable and agile.
• Experience with systems that are designed and developed in compliance with corporate security and privacy policies
• Manage the overall development capacity (resources and budget) and leverage alternative delivery models (FTE, Vendor, offshore); expertise in creating effective processes for successful delivery within alternative delivery models.
• Provide leadership, training and other necessary support to deliver high quality applications on-time and budget.
Technology Leader
• Be the Technical Leader and Architect for ICOE applications in China.
• Drive strategy around third party integration technologies
• Build and maintain effective relationships with Microsoft Product Groups to drive improvements in Microsoft technology as well as be an IT showcase (i.e., get to know the product teams in SQL Server, BizTalk, Office, Visual Studio and many others including Microsoft Research. Provide in-depth evaluations, contribute feature requests and perform beta testing for these new products).
• Build and maintain effective relationships with the Microsoft Center of Excellence (COE) for engineering communities to leverage and showcase best practices as the lead ICOE engineer in China.
Education and experience
• B.S/MS in information systems, software engineering, computer science.
• Minimum 10+ years experience architecting, designing and developing distributed systems including demonstrated experience with .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, Windows Forms, Web Services, XML, SQL Server, BizTalk, and/or SharePoint.
• Demonstrated people management experience required.
• Experience working with companies in the United States.
• Broad technology awareness and curiosity including experience defining technical architectures, establishing engineering best practices and promoting emerging technologies.
• Ability to resolve ambiguity, reduce complexity, and work with a team of architects and senior engineers to create long-term architectural vision for ongoing evolution of the platform.
• Comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) process development and product deployment across an enterprise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Mastery of English and Chinese languages and business cultures.
• Strong judgment, problem resolution, team building, negotiation, budgeting, decision-making skills, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure required.
• Applied experience in application and systems integration, including integration of client-server and/or web solutions to legacy systems.
