PlexChat is a venture-backed company dedicated to building the premier tool for social coordination in mobile games. Our mission is to create a way for large groups of people to communicate effectively in anonymous environments prone to internet chaos. We are in the very early stages and we’re looking for folks interested in playing a major role in something new.
JOB OVERVIEW
This role is part of the core architecture team. We are building a cross-platform chat application that provides a high quality environment for large groups of people to communicate and coordinate in real time. You will work directly with the founders on the major technical decisions that will define PlexChat. This is an opportunity to build from the ground up. There is no technical debt or other legacy impediments.
We’re looking for people that want to own what they do.

Architects. You are ready to build robust, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable services to support a broad chat ecosystem.
Owners. This is a chance to make major decisions. We’re looking for people that care about the decisions they make and their impact on the product. We also want people not afraid to express their views on decisions others are making.
Autodidacts. You constantly want to learn new things, whether it’s a technique, process, methodology, algorithm, language, or something else entirely.
Holistic Thinkers. A backend does not exist in a vacuum. We need people that can consider how their decisions will impact the application’s performance and the user’s experience.
Professionals. We expect to move fast, but we are not interested in throwing something at the wall to see if it sticks. You should be deliberate in your decisions and care about the quality of your execution.
Qualifications
Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Strong communication skills
Expert proficiency in at least one programming language, proficiency in several
C, C++, Rust, Erlang, or Elixir preferred
Experience deploying, debugging, and maintaining live code
Experience with distributed systems (maintaining uptime, consistency, etc)
