Age Disadvantage in finding C++ programming required jobs

Hi,

I am currently trying to learn C++. I hold a Bachelor degree in Mathematics, 1999
and currently studying Masters Degree in Quantitative Finance - only one subject left to complete this degree, that is computational finance by using C++.

I've done programming in Pascal in my undergraduate degree, and I never worked in technical jobs. Now the big question is whether it is a big disadvantage to start a career in programming in mid 30s? I wish I had started learning it years ago as I really enjoy studying C++, but don't really know the market, whether the companies make it a big deal about my age or not. I know it's illegal to reject someone only because of age, but what they'll come up with would be "no related work experience, etc..."

Thanks in advance for your replies.

PS: I'm not keen to work at financial industry as we all know it is trash now and not a stable industry.

Well for starters jenkklan, you posted in the most wrong category ever. Your very lucky that I found your post because a majority of people simply avoid these posts.
so , what is your job now?

do u think that programming is/ will keeping in a high-needy?

as world will become various , more and more element implicate in a program, company will keep employing programmer to maintain program

oseby the way , can u give 3 example , what industry and what purpose(be specific) that need to use program?

as u know that program is about something don't change often~ ~

and don't have much various prior :)

1) needy (using times, cost, usability)

2) do programmer suitable for u , i believe that programmer not good at mouth speaking, expressing their opinion, as the job don't need to speaking, just thinking and type

3) does the project you engage can be keep going , and do that stable?

Hi,

If you would like to work as quant analyst then you should definitely know either c++ or Mathlab or Excel programming(VBA).
Now, if you would like to work as trading algorithms developer you need more than 5 years c++ experience and very strong software engineering background.

The question is how much do you like to program, and not the age.

All my best. I hope you have completed your degree successfully.
