Ivor Horton's Beginning C++ 2012

Is this a good book to read?

I have been reading it and I have found so many confusions but obviously through a bit of research on the internet I figure everything out. I have also found lots of typos and accidents. Some of the example code uses things never taught which I have to look up. Its like this book is deliberately making me do research because as well as in exercises he asks us to do our own research to figure out how to do this specific thing with what we learned in this chapter.

Should I continue with this book and just research things I don't understand or should I pick up another book?

The only reason I chose this book is because the end project he takes us through the entire process of creating a sketcher application.

Just need some advice please.
