What is the minimum knowledge required for a job?

Hi. I was wondering, what (in general), is required to get a job in programming. If I know C++ only, but know it very well (which, at this point, I cannot say about myself), would that be considered enough?

I would very much appreciate if someone can assist me with my question.

Thank you!

That depends widely. You should read the job requirements. Some places will hire you if you have a pulse. Others want years of experience. etc.

Right now the economy is making it much more difficult, as well. Also, where you are located will play a huge part.

I am in Israel.

Do I really need a B.S. to get a decent job in programming?

If you look at most of the job postings out there for programmers, they're looking for a B.S. or EQUIVALENT experience. Having a B.S. just opens more doors and gives you an edge, but it is still very much possible to get a job without it. This of course applies to the U.S job market. I have no idea about Israel.
