Make a snapshot of a website

i have a little, but nasty, trouble.
I have to create a C/C++ program that must create a snapshot of a website and it must be platform indipendent.
i need just some suggests or if exist an how-to...


is it possible to do so with C/C++ language or i have to migrate to another language?
