new to this world. Just finished collage(in mechanic) this year but i want to change the air.i'm applyin for software engeneering master degree..but there's a interview that i have to pass to get in.
So i have little knowlege of all this but i'm eager to learn(1 year of programming like for dummies) Anyway the interview is based on :
1.Elements viewing object oriented programming:
Definition of classes.
constructors/destructors
2.Base elements viewing orietend programming:
Objects compund
Scale classes
3.Avansed notion of object oriented programming:
polymorphism and virtual function
function and generic classes
any1 can give me some adivice.. what to expect? something like that ? would appreciate it.
Before I proceed, take everything I say as constructive criticism, and not offence, as I want to help you.
1) Since you're applying for a masters degree, I would firstly improve your written English. The interviewer will become more inclined to decline a position in the course if you do not improve.
2) Refresh your current knowledge of C++ by scanning this C++ reference: http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ Pay specific attention to the topics you specified in your original post.
3) During the interview, sell yourself. Give the interviewer a good reason(s) to believe that you'll be a credit to his/her course. Be sure to highlight to the main points that'll get you noticed, such as "I work well in a structured environment", "I think logically", and "I have previous C++ experience."
4) Relax. If you're tense, you'll forget vital information, mess up your words, and will simply struggle to concentrate. Not only that, the interviewer will see your nervousness as a weak point, and will note it as "doesn't work well under pressure". In team exercises, this is critical.
5) Be prepared. Make sure you've got the specified topics down. There's nothing worse that wandering into an interview only to draw a blank because you haven't revised to above topics. Also, your physical appearance is essential too. Be sure to dress smart; dressing like a hobo won't help.
6) Be social, and on-time. If you give the interviewer a social & friendly vibe, they get the impression you won't cause trouble during the classes. Being on-time to your interview is essential. If you're not on-time, the interviewer will get the impression that if you're late to your own interview, you'll probably be late for class.
7) Show your resourcefulness. If you're resourceful, show it. The interviewer will see that you're willing to search multiple sources for an answer, or for research purposes.
There's probably multiple points I'm missing, but I think other users will add to the list.
4.5) Be both confident and bold. A firm handshake and eye contact is essential. Give the interviewer the impression that you are able to handle whatever task that they might throw at you - and then do it.
Ahh! I forgot to mention the item of greatest importance: Turn off all of your electronic devices before the interview!
great. thank you.
