I did systems support which is the same as MSCE, I am in the second year of my computer science degree, I wanted to apply for an internship program, but I am confused which field must I apply for. Currently I was working with xerox as first line support for xerox printers. The fields which are in the internship form are:
SAP basis,
Back office and storage,
Service Desk,
field service support,
Telecommunication Services support,
monitoring and response centre, and
applications Operations.
with what I have done so far in the I.T industry I do not know which field will perfectly suit me.
Please help.
If you are in computer science talk to your professors and see what they say. Everything you list is using applications which isn't for a computer science student. I am a computer Science student myself, I am finishing my computer science that I started 20 years ago. I would look for projects on the web that I could contribute to. I would hope that I could find something that would keep track of the time I spent on the project. Something like the tracking system on the Linux Operating System Kernel or x-windows, the base for all graphics on a Linux based systems.
The other option I would look for is, if an individual on campus has a Computer Science based ideas for a business which isn't afraid of coddling a new programmer along the way to the development of a project or experiment.
These would be all ways I would build my credentials for my programming skills. What you list is a great way to build up the ideas for human communication skills and Application skills. Programmer's core for most things are pretty small and niche groups in the companies type you list. Getting to them is knowing someone on the skill set, much like how google does it recruiting for talent in these areas.
