What About wxWidgets ?

I am currently using wxWidgets and I wonder why it is not as known as it should be.
So what do you think about it ? Do you even know it ? Some bad experiences with it ?

The only black point I know in it is :
- The XML library is not that perfect
- It allows using threads, but most of it's classes are not thread-safe

I am creating my own implementation of it, notably to replace the integrated XML library by tinyXML and extend it a few.
