Looking for an open-source programming community

Well as you saw, I'm looking for a programming community. I would like to get into some video game C++ open source kinda stuff but I'm not sure where to start. I have a pretty good grasp on C++ and OOP in general and would like to get into something challenging and have a goal and would like to have a small team of people to work with. Any suggestions?

The best way to go about this is to start contributing to an existing project you're interested in.

There are lots of opensource games around, start by searching a game project you would like to join to.
From the website of the project you can get information on how to join the community of developers.
For example TORCS ( 3D racing simulation ), FreeCiv ( open source Civilization clone ), ecc...
