Copyright laws are different in different countries, to have any meaningfully feedback you should state where you are.
In the UK, 'works' are copyrighted by default without you needing to do anything (you don't even need a copyright notice).
But when it comes down to it, copyright is a fairly meaningless concept unless you have a lot of money for legal fees (in the case of breach of copyright).
I was told even Open Source project source code have Copyright notice? I guess I subscribe to Grey Wolf posting. Instead of spending tons of time and monies for legal fees, why not devote those monies and time into churning out meaningful software to benefit the end users as a whole ?
