New to gaming.

Hello im Spike. And I've been teaching myself C++ for awhile but i would like to take the next step and move into graphic oriented things like games. Or really anything but Command line stuff. So i was wondering, where should i start?

I am really looking for a means to create simply sprite based games rather than any 3d stuff. Just a 2d person that you could walk in different directions would cut it for me. But yeah i just would like to know if there was anyhelp you could provide for me as i am new to the concept.
