SFML setup in VC++ 2010

An anonymous user sent me this in PM:

Hey, I saw that you reccomended SFML. I downloaded it and am using visual 2010 as my compiler. Do you have any idea how to get the SFML files into the compiler? The website says to go tools > options > Projects and Solutions > VC++ Directories. However, in 2010 it says that VC++ directories editing in tools > options has been deprecated. How can I get around this?

I personally think deprecating that interface was extremely stupid of MS.

I had this trouble too, when I was getting VC++2010 set up. Had to google the solution.

Step by step directions are here:

And I made this quick image to help you through it visually:

PS to the anonymous user:

I hope you don't mind I posted your question publicly. I dislike answering questions by PM because then only 1 person sees the answer and it makes it impossible for others to stumble upon / google it.

Case in point, I found the answer to this question because someone else posted the same question publicly on a forum so that it could be googled. Had they received their answer by PM, I wouldn't have been able to figure it out as quickly.

Plus, if I'm wrong or if someone else has additional info to contribute they can chime in. Or someone else might be able to respond more quickly. So really, posting publicly is better for everyone in every way.

So yeah -- in the future on this forum (and on every forum, really), don't PM specific users with questions. Post them on the forum. If you want to PM a specific user to get their response, PM them a link to your thread and draw their attention to it -- but don't rely on 1 user for an answer.
Thanks for this. When I searched I could only find out how to do it for each individual project and was hoping it was possible to get around all that. Wound up just switching compilers.

Sorry, I didn't post this publicly. I just don't like taking up space on a forum like this with such basic questions that could just be common knowledge to everyone else and I'm just to dumb to figure it out.

Don't worry. The only thing we don't like are people who don't bother to do any work for themselves. If you put in effort...I, at least, could really care less who "dumb" your question is.
