Stringstream question

I am wondering why in this code the bold code has to use stringstream rather than this statement

getline (cin,yours.year);

Any ideas??

that's because getline cannot perform the conversion to int. you could write cin>>yours.year; though.

Check the reference whenever things are unclear:
http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/string/getline/

You'll see that there is no version of getline that takes an int reference as the second parameter.
