Add a .lib file to C++ project

Hi everyone
I want to add a .lib file to my c++ project. but when I go to references (in .NET environment) and click add new reference , in the form that appears I can not brows to find my .lib file to add to project.
Am I following right steps for adding a .lib reference? or Should I do it in another way ?
I'll appreciate any help
