What to do when I don't get something?
I don't really get using functions with parameters, I get basic function work but not with parameters. I've tried creating a programming, but I'm not sure what to do and I end up making a copy of someone else's problem. I've tried re-reading what I learn from but that didn't help.

Focus on both the background theory and the sample code. After that write your own.
If that doesn't help, then get a good book on C++ and work through that too. I'd say the important thing is not to rush things. Stay with each topic until you understand it as best you can.
