Suggestion on starting.

I was told to come to this site for help in getting ahead of my class; as well as learning C++ on my own before I actually got to it in college. Well, though I found many scripts and tutorials on this page, it really doesn't seem at beginners level. So, can anyone point me to the best opinionated C++ book to learn from? Even maybe an actual website with just as useful information. Thank you.

I read this with very limited C++ experience, and found it easy to pick up. I program in Java for a living and had done quite a bit in C# too, so I had a lot of the key concepts of OO programming already. But this book treats its reader as if they are beginners, so it should be fine for anyone.

Good luck to you!
Thanks a bunch Sammie and Helios!
