need help to explain what's should i do when build new project

currently, i use anjuta to build new project, and then anjuta create some files that i don't know exactly it is.
can some one explain to me or give me some URL that refer to what sould i do and how it use?
for example, acconfig or makefile, how to create this file, and also other file that i need. Thanks
