About borland c++..

I use Borland C++ version 5.02.......

In the text editor i find a line separating the page in two......
can anyone tell me what could its use could be.......
what i notice is that both the side get compiled at he same time.....
I tried the help option.... but i couldn't help myself.....

If it's after column 80, it's the edge of the old 80x25 text mode.
does it have any use?
It's a guide so you know around where to wrap the line. If you expect someone, including yourself, might try to view your code in text mode (for example, on a UNIX console using Vi), it's a good idea to wrap your lines at column 80.
