Hello

Hello. I am just beginning the process of learning the basics of C++ and have to say this is a very well made site.

I don't know anything about C++ really or any programming besides basic HTML and would like to learn at my own pace.

I hope to find an environment here where I can be treated with respect and at the same time learn from more experienced individuals and respect them as they would respect the other members of this organization.

This being said, the first page I happened to uncover left me with a bad taste and I am posting to express my enthusiasm towards an open and optimistic learning environment.

If you would like to know what I am referring to please visit this page:http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/windows/2904/

on a more positive note, I am sure this is a great place for practical conversation and look forward to getting to know the basics while at the same time perhaps even make a few new friends. Hello and thank you for the great community I can look forward to learning alongside!
Is an insightful read... I only scanned through it but appreciate the sentiment you was trying to achieve with this...

I still don't see what you're talking about.
If you're that sensitive, I don't think programming (or anything related to science) is for you, as people working in these areas are usually down-to-earth and rarely are mincing their words.

If you're looking for an optimistic learning environment, I don't think you should have posted that link or commented on it. That kind of opening post seems to be the opposite of being optimistic.

I really don;t wanna be rude , but hey the real world is tough and not easy !! So If u want to learn C++ , Begin with the documentation in this site and post about Coding problem in the appropriate section and People will help u :)
Lol kid, people in the real world will criticize the hell out of you and your programming ability. Programming a video game is no easy task, those people were just trying to convey that and they did give you answers. I think you might have been trolling but whatever. You're not gonna find a "good" tutorial on game dev because each game is a fully unique entity. If you want to go at programming a video game, we would be glad to help you out as long as you are courteous and show some effort to learn on your own as well.

Now, don't take any of that as offensive because it was just meant to my point of view here.
I will now highlight The Best Quoteâ„¢ from the thread posted in the OP for all those who skimmed/didn't read it:

Game development isn't *that* much harder than writing an operating system.
That only applies to C++ ;) if all you want to do is make games, skip C++ (from the sounds of your post it isn't right for you) and instead use a high-level software creation tool, or example: http://www.clickteam.com/

Software creation tools make it drastically easier (most cases 1000x) but it's still quite hard even at THAT level.
Thanks for the clickteam link. I will be sure to check it out!

I have already even written my own version of all them hello world programs. Way cool!

I am always eager to learn more and look forward to continuing exploring the possibilities of C++!.

Thank you all for the replies as well. I know it is one of the toughest things in the world to learn, although I have always wanted to make videogames since I was a kid. I know you are all most likely smarter and more educated than I am on the subject of writing information and programming languages and you all deserve the utmost respect. Thank you very much.
