Suggestions for a better compiler

I currently use the Microsft Visual C++ 6.0. It's pretty old so i was wondering if anyone could tell me better compilars and where to get them.

If you want to stick w/ VC++, you could grab VC++ 2008 Express off Microsoft's site.

I used to use Pelles C, which wasn't bad.
