This solution is about as accurate as the question.
That's a problem of your text editor. It either doesn't support syntax highlighting at all, or requires you to choose some option.
I have the feeling that there's a contest of "who can post the worst question on cplusplus.com" going on today.
I suppose it didn't occur to you that it might be relevant to mention which text editor or IDE you're using?

No I didnt, considering I just started using visual c++ on monday. My teacher thought it was a good idea to cram 2 and half chapters into 2 hours. And assume that we knew everything.

So, you're talking about visual C++? Well, that's a step forward. Check that your files either have the ending .h (for headers) or .cpp, .cxx or .cc (for source files).
Yea we are using source and I use .cpp but when it adds it looks like its changing to a document.
Ok nvm I got it working.
