creating game images

Hello guys,

I have been learning Allegro the past couple weeks and I was wondering how I would go about making realistic terrain and characters. So far I've been using paint and to make something look even relatively realistic, it's quite tedious. So any advice or software to help would be appreciated. I would post this in the Allegro forums but they block that site at work.

Thanks!
I use paint.net. Its free and its pretty darn good! It's not so complicated like photoshop and you can download a whole mess of different tools. (The basic tools it starts you with probably wont be satifactory ).

I use paint.net too, although my artistic skills leave much to be desired. If you don't know how to use an art package properly then it probably will always be tedious.
Yeah, if you just suck at art completely its gonna be hard no matter what. But i think paint.net is a HUGE advancement from microsoft paint. especially when you go download all the effect packages people made.
Wow, that looks like a great program. I'll play around with it when I get home. Thanks guys!
