I've (very) recently started programming in c++ and I was wondering if taking up java or python before I've gotten a strong grip on c++ would help or hinder my learning curve. I.e. causing too much confusion vs playing one off the other (mentally) to get a deeper understanding of the way programming works.

My suggestion to you that you have to pic a language, destroy it , and then take another or do what ever you want to do .

Many thanks. Pure c++ for now then, I like what I've seen, the rest can wait.
Edit: just for the sake of being thorough, anyone have additional input?

Don't confuse yourself... there's a lot of ground to cover with C++. At least learn the basics of the language before moving on to another.

I would stick with C and C++ for a while like Baso said. C# and Java are a piece of cake for people that know C++.
