Hi guys, thanks for helping me out for my previous posts and it seems i am at the end of my semester as a sophomore in Penn State.
My question is, am i suitable for Programming. As i have experienced, programming is different from other subjects. 1) you really need to know the languages inside out 2) you need to know how to express your language in coding format (c++, java) 3) you need to be able to understand a code and make self correction.
This being said, it seems that if you want to pursue this degree you need to be very "Into" this stuff, you need to have the heart of interest to mess around c++ during your spare time instead of spending time gaming (what i do). You need to set challenge for yourself e.g. instead of constantly asking you guys when i am stuck i should force myself to plow through the difficulties. Those are the qualities that i am lacking and it makes me doubt whether i should pursue this degree.
True about the rush and liking what you do. But you CAN do something you don't happen to like, but you happen to be good at. If you are good at it, you can do it for profit, even when you don't enjoy it. The requirement, as stated above: You must then be GOOD at it. If you feel you are no good, then stop.
The problem now is: You cannot know if you are or aren't good with just 6 months. But then again, you are not cornered to do this, so the liking part at this point should play a big part, I would say:
"Why invest more time finding out if I am good at this when I already found out that I don't like this?"
If you already know that you don't like it, your time could be best invested elsewhere because you CAN afford to change your mind now.
