You're supposed to write a number of C++ programs according to these specifications.
I think that is pretty obvious, though.

Surely you wouldn't have been assigned these tasks if you had been taught nothing so far.

well the tutor just goes through stuff and doesn't explain anything and then when you ask he just shows you some stuff and still doesn't explain how to do it and stuff so yeah...
