Exercises

Hello ladies, and gentlemen of cplusplus forums. I'm a new guy here, this is the first programming forum I've decided to take the time to join, and participate in. I'll start off telling a few things about myself before i get to the jist of this topic. I'm 15 years old, gotta love when coders start young. I've been looking into C++ for about two years. But you know, there's only so much you can pick up from books. Without having an actual teacher it gets kinda, bleh. Anyway, I'm taking a college computer repair course, and studying for my CompTia A+.

Like i said a second ago, there's only so much one can learn from books. So I've got a basic knowledge and understanding of C++ semantics and syntax, also decent knowledge of the STL. But I'm lacking that.. umph, that pushes me out of console programming (or makes me an expert with the console).
If anyone knows of any good exercises, or small projects that can help me further my knowledge, I'll be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you lot better.

What kind of programs do you want to make? What made you want to start programming?

Whatever it was, make a simple version of it.

If you want to make a game, start working on a simple game.

If you want to get into networking, make a simple file transfer program, or a chat program.

etc.
Nothing specific made me want to start programming. The idea of making the computer do with I want is what turned me on to programming.

I think I'll make a console version of the old Snakes game, where you eat the little orbs and grow bigger and bigger, but if you touch yourself its game over.
Wish me luck :P
