NMNX 100pts for NSA/EQUILIBR 100pts

if anyone helps me with gears problem can have any of the first 5 problems!!
PM me
Yes I know it is for some sort of glory or bragging rights or what ever.

Where I work, there are programmers. When asked to solve a problem they start with on line research, looking to see if there is already a solution to a similar problem. If they find one, they build a custom program around some else's solution. Is this cheating? Should they not get paid? (And paid well I might add.)

Our I.T. guy does the same thing. Come to think of it, so do mechanics. Doctors. Veterinarians. Lawyers. Is there anyone who has not gotten answers on line? Before internet, we used encyclopedias. Was it cheating since we did not research that info for ourselves? Anyone who thinks it is wrong had better not use a calculator to get an answer, it might be cheating!
This is a competition. The whole point of it is for individuals to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in solving problems. I would hope it would be clear that, in such a context, people privately offering to trade complete solutions in return for complete solutions to other questions is clearly cheating.

To try and suggest that this is analogous to people working together to achieve a goal at work is utterly disingenous.
I have half a mind to solve the problem set myself and post it here. Maybe that would get rid of some of the leeches.
Does anyone have a link to the contest? We could start from basic solutions and discuss progressive improvements openly, maybe even use a Git repository. Honestly at this point I don't even care if it ruins the contest. These people are too disruptive.

Ah, well, for the time being it's ended.

That is only one of the contests. There is at least one other, GEARS. Whether that is active or not I don't know nor care.

Let's hope the cheaters found out here is not that friendly for cheating and moved on, no matter what the contest(s) status is.

Think that you might splutter at this forum being described as "some blogging site"!

I am amused at the description, not annoyed or enraged.

The cheaters were treating cplusplus as their own private cheat site. They are the ones I am peeved at.

Nice to see the challenge site admins are aware of the cheaters cheating.

Priceless!

@lastchance,

Now I see why the cheaters were trying to hide the evidence of their cheating by PMs. There seems to be a scholarship involved. See the comments at the submissions-dropped link.

Money, the root of all evil cheating.
Mmm, I was stupid enough to answer some of their questions for the June contest, so I have to shoulder some blame for getting involved there. Mea culpa.

There are plenty of old CodeChef questions that are out of live contest and could legitimately be used for educational discussion - shame to see the unedifying bartering that went on in that recent rather overwhelming series of threads. Maybe a moratorium on answering them during live competition? Stack Overflow seems to be policing that. Funny, but now the competition is no longer live (and you can see everyone's answers anyway) they don't seem interested.

Well, I'm quite happy for my doctor to look online to keep up-to-date with the latest in medical technology, but I wouldn't feel terribly comfortable being operated on by one who cheated his way through exams.

@all who are concerned about our personal development
i just want to state that as being a college student good ranks in these competitions are important....don't know about the others but in first 9 days of this 10 day long challange i was able to solve 5 problems and just wanted improve my rank a bit more so asked for the solution for the sixth problem....
furthermore now everybody is quite as solutions to all the problems in the contest are available on the site itself....
agreed that these contests are for personal development but good ranks in these contests are really benifitial for us college students....
so i would wish and advise those who think this is wrong must stay out of it
good day all
Nobody cares about your personal development or what college is like for you. Your problems are yours.
We just don't appreciate our forums being used for cheating.

Demanding little bugger, ain't ya.

I don't take advice from cheaters.
OK, my appoligies to all. I did not know a scholorship was involved. Prizes like that do make a difference...

Doesn't matter if there were prizes involved or not. Cheaters using this site as their own private cheating domain, especially doing it via PM, is wrong.

This site is to help others by be a public repository of questions asked and answered. Publicly retained for others to view.
so why there's an option of PM?
Why do computers have a "copy file" function, if copyright infringement is illegal?
Why is there cash, if money laundering is illegal?

Answer: the fact that something can be used wrong doesn't mean it has no right uses.
@blackmamba

There is nothing wrong with private messages. Mostly it is used to converse with those you consider friends, without having to clutter up a public topic.

There is nothing wrong with private messages.

There is something VERY wrong when the PUBLIC forums are used to advertise cheating.
