You need to repost that within output tags so that the spacing is retained. An output tag is the same as a code tag except for the word "output" instead of "code". http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/articles/16853/
In windows at least, the solid and semisolid rectangle are characters just like any other. You can put them in a string and write them out. you may want to put them in an enumerated type or something for ease of reference, as you can't type them into your code directly (or probably shouldnt).
