Is there any way, without using GUI, can you display a √ ( square root ). Example for the quadratic formula?

Displaying √ on a terminal as UNICODE may prove to be extremely hard ( depending on OS etc )
You can try with ASCII art:

\| 2

That will be extremely simpler
