Visual C++ Database Programming

Been out of the C++ loop for a few years. I did some C++ database programming a while back, and just wondering what is the current preferred method of connecting to a database (MS SQL, My SQL, Access)? I used to dabble in ADO, OLE DB, ODBC, RDO.

Also, any good current examples out there?
