Help point me upon my journey :)

Hi :)

I am new to the forums, I am currently in personal studies to understand the theory of C++. As well to be capable of using it, But that will come in latter times..

I know the Squirrel programing language but I want to do better :), I want to be successful :P.

If anyone could point me to what they think is a great C++ book during my adventure that would be awesome! :D

As well a basics to programing like strings, The g_ prefix, The i_ prefix and so on, As I think I could use some improving in those areas.

I am currently reading from
A First Book of C++
Edition: Fourth Edition
Writer: Gary Bronson

I really liked this book and even if it's outdated, I can continue to update my knowledge like other programs have done :P

*Sorry, I tried digging in the forums to see if this was already answered and it seemed to be a hot mess :/

I honestly look forward to being part of this community ;)
Welcome!

Your right it is a hot mess, and it's probably been that way since the internet started.
Learning C or C++ is IMO is a self paced journey and every one has a different idea how to go about it. It sounds to me like your already on your way and becoming active here can only help.

Personally I think if your reading a C book from 1980 or one printed last year, they are both worth your time. That doesn't mean they are all user friendly but if you find one you like finish it. See if you can find more by the same author. If the book is too advanced, put it down and try another, read it when your ready.
Thank you :)

It seems I am finally picking up the language. I just need to focus on the basics of programming as it honestly helps, and learn more of how to use C++ and how it works.

It's going to take time, I wont be coding some project anytime like I dream of. But in time I could :).

I cant wait to build onto something, Maybe helping a multi-player by creating plug-ins to much more. I think that should be my first step once I get very good at this.

Then I plan to grab a source code, I seen a few source codes for emulators, That really intrigued me!
