Query: Where to start

Hello everyone,

As an intro I would like to say that I am a college student on a very tight budget, so any recommendations for my following question would be appreciated if they were open source references or un-costly purchasable packages.

I am looking for suggestions as where to start to learn C++. Also, any suggestions for free/opensource compilers for C++ would very much be appreciated. I have skills in BASIC and am looking for learning C++ fluently to use in a pursued programming career. I am also very interested in hardware/interface programming, and I would appreciate suggestions on where to start on that.

First follow the tutorials on C++ language, then you can move to something else

Hi!

I just started too!

I'm using xCode on the mac which comes bundled with my laptop. Only problem is that you've got to install it from the cd that comes in the packaging.

takes a while to figure out how to get to the compiler but after that.. its quite a snap to use =)

I found the tutorials on this site very helpful. The other tutorials I found had very sloppy coding style.
