At home?

I want to do BS in software engineering. But I live in a city in which there is no university and for studies I don't want to live in hostel of other city. But second option is Virtual University. So I can study with lectures given in DVDs at home without going to university.
Is Virtual University a good choice or not?
Can we do BS in software engineering easily at home?

I have also learned C++ at home about 20% from book.

You can learn anything from anywhere. All you need to learn C++, software engineering is the desire. You know what they say... "Where there is a will, there is a way"... With all the resources on the net, if this virtual U charges you money, I'd say screw um personally... however depending on what you want to do in life... how deep you want to get into S.E., you may be required to have an actual sheepskin of some sort... Maybe not.

Thanks pearlyman for encouraging me. I am joining virtual university because they give a degree after BS. So I think degree is also important. What do you say???
