I can give a link for the newest version of VC++ Express (2008): http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/

Visual C++ version 6.0 is not worth looking for, it is way too old.
Visual C++ 2005 express (AKA version 8) may be available somewhere for download.

If you are after non-free edition (standard, pro, etc) you will not likely find anyone telling you where to find it.

if you own your copy of windows then VC++ is free anyways.

First you never own a copy of Windows, you only buy a license to use it.

Second, the only free licence for VC++ is the Express edition.

Why are you looking for that version?

Have you read the comments above?

Of course I've read them up. Why? Anything wrong? I don't see anyone posted the url up there. (And it's VC++ 6.0 that i want, not the EXPRESS version 2008,in case anyone misread my post.)

Only the express edition is free. Why does your school not let you use it?

If they are using VC6 to teach C++ then they are teaching non standard C++, VC2008 Express would not compile it.

but on the other hand they could be teaching C, which may not be so bad with VC6.

Anyway, VC6 is not free, you may be able to install it under your Schools license, you would have to talk to your school IT guy.

Uh no,what am I going to do now.. :( No wonder I couldn't find any of it on the internet.

garob: gee, I've no idea. But that's what they've been using all this while. So maybe they just wanna keep it that way..I dunno. But I wish they would switch to EXPRESS..

Grey Wolf: ya, we did learn C language(last semester)-about the syntax, algorithm, flowchart, pseudocode, problem analysis and other basic things about programming. But that was just the theoretical part of it. It's only in this semester that we'll be doing the practical(writing the C source code). Now, this might sounds kind of 'shaky'(I dunno if that's the right word) but yup we'll be using C++ throughout the practical despite having learn all(or so I guess) the basics about C language the previous semester. But-from my understanding- my 'teacher' said there shouldn't be any problem, coz the two are kind of 'similar'-in some ways,I guess.

Anyway, thanks for the responses. I appreciate that. (n_n)
