Hello everyone!
I'm just starting out learning C++ for game purposes. I found a video tutorial on Unity 3D, in C# on sale for 10$ instead of 149$. I was wondering if it's worth buying this, when I'm not really learning C#?
The course is lead by a novice programmer and an expert programmer, and seems to be mostly about doing the code, and trying to understand. So the bottom line is: should I buy this, and learn a bit about Unity, or should I stay to the core C++ and learn to build my own simple games, by eventually getting into SFML? I know this is a personal preference thing, but I'm hoping for some good arguments towards the one or the other. Personally I think it would be best to hard code a game first, to get the hang of it, and not get cought up in pre-made code, as any game engine has. So what do you think?
Personally I never suggest spending money on learning materials unless it is a book that I have read and is highly recommended by many others.
There is a course being offered by Coursera that is completely free starting on Feb 23rd. It is titled "Beginning Game Programming with C#" https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=c%20%20
You can probably search for tutorials on youtube as well.
I found a MIT course for introductory programming that uses Python as the language of choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6U-i4gXkLM
