I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to ask on. But I'm currently majoring in Software Engineering. But all the job requirements I see requires a major in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, even the ones with the Job Title of Software Engineer.
I was wondering, would I be better off changing my major to Computer Science? Software Engineering is what I want to be doing as my career, but which major would I have a better chance of getting a job with?
and im not really sure what the difference between the two is, but what I have always wanted to do with computers ever since I started using Windows 3.1 when I was 3 was to be part of a team that creates software for computers. Nothing else has ever held as much interest in me.
I would pick a major that gives you the most options after graduation. A lot of electronics engineers make fine software engineers. Most job titles that I see indicate that a particular degree is preferred but that other related degrees are acceptable as well. Regardless of your degree choice it is up to you to sell yourself during an interview. There are a lot of different flavors of engineering degrees now adays but don't pick something that is too narrowly focused because it will limit your career possibilities.
