Any reccomendations on a good compiler to use for a beginner any help or advice you guys could offer at all would be much obliged thanks in advance guys.

I'd say start w/ Dev-C++ from Bloodshed, then when you're ready move on to Code::Blocks.
It works perfectly fine for me, and Dev-C++ has a lot more wiggle room for programming :]
