I am currently trying to learn C++. I hold a Bachelor degree in Mathematics, 1999
and currently studying Masters Degree in Quantitative Finance - only one subject left to complete this degree, that is computational finance by using C++.
I've done programming in Pascal in my undergraduate degree, and I never worked in technical jobs. Now the big question is whether it is a big disadvantage to start a career in programming in mid 30s? I wish I had started learning it years ago as I really enjoy studying C++, but don't really know the market, whether the companies make it a big deal about my age or not. I know it's illegal to reject someone only because of age, but what they'll come up with would be "no related work experience, etc..."
Thanks in advance for your replies.
PS: I'm not keen to work at financial industry as we all know it is trash now and not a stable industry.
It would possibly not be a disadvantage in a specialised field, with a Maths background it may be worth your while looking into computational science (scientific computing).
