I feel CodeBlocks is one of the best IDE's out there for beginners.
Tho what annoys me is, that I don't seem to be able to change the background color to lets say "black font". Thing is, I've seen other compilers are able to change background color when writing code?!
I want to change the background color so it isn't so bright and hard for my eyes to look at code.
I would try using NetBeans or Sublime Text 2. SL2 isn't an IDE, but I think you'll like it like me. I'm actually looking for darker lexers for Code::Blocks like Sublime Text 2's default is. I'll let you know if I find one.
code::blocks, from the menu choose settings->editor then click syntax highlighting.
In my version, there was only the default theme available, but I changed the colours and saved that as a new theme.
In fact it's not the lack of flexibility which bothered me, rather there are so many options that I've not had time to explore them all.
